Romans 8:9 in the NIV is this - "You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spriit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." I read verses 1 - 8 so that verse 9 would be clearer. Verse 8 - "Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God."
Thanks, Scooter, for setting this up for JOY. I will set up a link to this blog from the JOY website. I tried two different blogs and they both seem to be too complicated for the average PC user like myself and I'm sure many others at JOY. This one seem simple and easy to use.
When I hear and/or read this verse, I think about the JOY cross. I envision the members of the church being the branches along the sides and the top reaching out, growing and impacting the lives of others through the love of Jesus.
This morning we were talking about how when we prune a branch off a tree in our yard that it dies and my kids made the connection themselves that apart from Jesus we cannot live. I'm thankful for the responses that we have gotten on the blog but I would really like to hear from many more.
It never ceases to amaze me how you can stop and connect everything you do and every event in your life back to your connection with Christ. I believe that everything good in the world is because of Christ. I have had several prayer answered recently and this I can only attribute to his love for me that I do not deserve. I hope everyone can really experiance a connection to Christ every day in all you do. It will guide you through daily life and you will be rewarded.
This is the beginning of one of my favorite passages of scripture about putting on the full armor of God. God doesn't leave us out there in the world to fend for ourselves without his protection and his direction! Our strength is in Him and in HIS mighty power!
I am going to really concentrate on not getting angry at the trivial things in life. Life is such a gift, and we have so much to be thankful for that God has given us. I am also going to try to put my frustrations into positive actions, and hopefully teach my children to do the same!
Lately I have been trying to not get angry with the people and situations that I cannot change. The craziness of other people doesn't have to become our issue. Chance are that no matter what we say to them we won't be able to change them. It might be best to accept them for who they are and not allow them to anger or upset us.

I really like the idea of a weekly devotion that all of us can listen to.

I've loved using the Bible with my kids and Dianna. What are you doing in your families?

5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
