September 29, 2008 "Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His power." Ephesians 6:10
So many times I find myself turning to friends or coworkers for advice or help or a shoulder to cry on. Why do I do this when I have our almighty God who is here for me always?
I've done some research and further reading about this scripture. The first two words were pointed out in everything that I read. "Be strong" is given to us as a command. There isn't a question about what we should do. It isn't suggested at all. I have also read verses 10 - 18 several times and looked up some comments on those verses. Verse 17 tells us to "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." I often find myself reading "self-help" books to give me that answer to what I am struggling with. We have the ultimate "self-help" book in the Bible. I pray that as Christians we will use our Bibles more for the help and direction that we need.
